- Assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis.
- You will receive your assignment confirmation via email, phone or email.
FESTIVAL INFORMATION
The Houston International Festival 2010 is spotlighting the Caribbean April 17-18 & 24-25, 2010.
There are New Event Hours: Saturdays 12pm-10pm & Sundays 12pm-8pm.
The volunteer shift times: Friday shift: 11:30am-2:00pm.
Saturday shifts: 11:30am-3:30pm / 3:00pm-8:00pm / 7:30pm-10:00pm.
Sunday shifts: 11:30am-3:30pm/3:00pm-8:00pm.
We welcome your enthusiasm, energy and commitment as a volunteer with the Houston International Festival. You must be at least 15 years old to volunteer unless otherwise approved. Assignments are on a first come first serve basis. Whether you are an individual or part of a group of 10 or 500, a place is waiting for all of you at the festival. Volunteering together, your company, school group or family will benefit from this fun way to give back to the community and a tradition in Houston.
VOLUNTEER SHIFT TIMES
We have plenty of shift times to fill! So, once you've got the hang of it, why not put your experience to use for one or two additional shifts. If experience isn't enough incentive, how about this: We will have lots of chances to win Fabulous Door Prizes. Your prize card will be stamped to be eligible for these door prizes for every shift you work. There will also be special "goodie bags" filled with lots of fun stuff available for people working the last shift on either Saturday or Sunday. Limit one bag per person
SUPPORT THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
We are seeking donations for the rest area with advertising options. Donations can be made in the form of food, drinks, prizes, etc. Please call Cheri Hinkle for more details 713 654-8808, ext 290.
VOLUNTEER AREAS AND DESCRIPTIONS
ADMISSION GATES
Selling admission tickets, as well as collecting tickets at the gates. Each ticket booth will have a finance supervisor managing the booth
COUPON BOOTHS
Sell food and beverage coupons (must be at least 16 years old). Each coupon booth will have a finance supervisor managing the booth
BEVERAGE BOOTHS
Sell soft drinks, beer, frozen margaritas and water. Must be at least 18 years old. (Must wear hat/cap)
FLEX TEAM
We consider this group the most "flexible" volunteers. These volunteers need to be ready to go wherever they are needed during their shift. These volunteers will be used to "fill in" for volunteers who do not show up or to cover last minute emergency needs
ARTS AND CRAFT MARKETS
Volunteers are needed to assist 600 artists from across the US. MARKETS ONLY NEED A MAXIMUM OF 3 VOLUNTEERS PER SHIFT TO WORK.
KIDS ZONE
Volunteers in this area will assist kids with games, activities, and inflatable. Great place for students to work! Note: Groups will be limited to 15 members per shift due to high demand for this area
PROMOTIONS
Volunteers will be placed in the area helping with different promotions directly related to the honored country. These could include: Sand Art exhibits, Photography exhibits, and more.
STAGE - ALL POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED
Volunteers assist one of the many entertainment stages at the Festival. You must have festival Stage Crew experience and be available to work an entire day. You must attend a mandatory meeting on Thursday, April 8th at 6:00pm- Invitation will be mailed NOTE THE LOCATION OF THE MEETING HAS CHANGED. THE MEETING WILL NOW TAKE PLACE AT THE DOUBLETREE HOTEL DOWNTOWN, 400 DALLAS STREET, 77002. MEETING ROOM IS LA SALLE A (2ND FLOOR). PARKING AVAILABLE AT METERS OR PAVED SURFACE LOT FOR A FEE.
HOSPITALITY TEAM - ALL POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED
Help provide hospitality to both local and international musicians and performers. Duties include everything from airport, hotel, and transportation to assisting the performers with individual needs while they are visiting. You must attend a mandatory meeting on Thursday, April 8th at 6:00pm to be a part of this committee - Invitation will be mailed. PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION OF THE MEETING HAS CHANGED. iFEST PREVIEW DAY AND FREE LUNCHTIME CONCERT
Volunteers needed to staff beverage and coupon booths ONLY. Come help out at our free lunchtime concerts around the reflection pond near City Hall. Shift is from 10:30am-2:00pm on Friday, April 17.
VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN
Help us get the volunteers checked in and escort to their proper area.
SPONSOR AREA
Volunteers will help serve food and drinks in the sponsor hospitality area. We require volunteers working in this area to be mature, responsible, and at least 18 years old.
WINE CAFE
Help serve wines from different regions as well as soft drinks, snacks and water. A fun place to work. Must be 21 to work the Wine Cafe.
TEAM WORK FOR GROUPS
