The organization that produces Houston’s annual Thanksgiving Day Holiday Parade and the Houston International Festival brings in fresh minds to support big plans ahead.
Houston, TX, August 9, 2012; source: Medley Inc.- The Houston Festival Foundation, Inc announced today that Jerianne Thomas, Vice President of Corporate Communications/PR at NRG Energy, Inc.; Avalyn Castillo Langemeier, Attorney and Partner with FosterQuan, LLP, and George J. Donnelly, the Managing Partner and Chairman of Global Services at Lilo Ventures were appointed to the organization’s board of directors.
This exciting news coincides with the addition of Paul Pettie, tenured Marketing Manager as Houston Festival Foundation Special Events Manager, a new role within the Foundation intended to support the expansion and changes to be announced later this year.
“Our new board members and staff have extraordinary business, marketing and planning expertise, and we are delighted that they are joining the Houston Festival Foundation team,” said Kim Stoilis, Houston Festival Foundation CEO/President.
Jerianne Thomas, vice president of Communications/PR at NRG Energy/Reliant, currently leads the development and implementation of strategic, integrated communications plans and campaigns for NRG. She is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership/Executive Women’s Partnership and serves on the steering committee for the Center for Houston’s Future.
Avalyn Castillo Langemeier is a partner in the Houston office of immigration law firm, FosterQuan, LLP, where she handles a wide variety of employment and compliance-based immigration matters. She’s a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a frequent speaker on immigration matters, including having spoken at conferences hosted by the Texas State Bar, the AILA Texas Chapter, National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA), and universities.
Last, but certainly not least amongst the new addition of board members is George J. Donnelly, the Managing Partner and Chairman of Global Services at Lilo Ventures a privately held venture firm operating in select countries in Latin America.
With 18 years of experience focused on international and domestic general management and boards of directors, Donnelly’s contributions have helped enhance the image and visibility of Houston, and fulfill the mission of promoting friendship and understanding among the peoples of Texas, Mexico, and the other Latin American republics.
“In choosing new members to serve on our board, community engagement and cultural awareness were at the top of our list of priorities,” said Stoilis. “We’re glad to have brilliant minds join our team, but we’re even happier to have community servants on board.”
Stoilis said that recruiting Paul Pettie to join the Houston Festival Foundation staff was a discernable decision, with his several years of experience supporting the Houston arts and non-profit community. In Pettie’s previous role as Regional Marketing Manager at Capital One Bank, he supported 71 bank branches, three lines of business (consumer, small business, and commercial) as well as sponsorships, community contributions, and the Community Reinvestment Act. In addition to his events and marketing background, Pettie currently serves on the boards of both the Bering Omega Community Services and the Spay and Neuter Assistance Program Board (SNAP) and helped to staff and manage the Capital One Bank volunteer efforts for many civic events throughout Houston.
Pettie will be a full-time staff member in charge of coordinating volunteers for Houston’s annual Holiday Parade on Thanksgiving morning and the Houston International Festival and will support annual special events including the Parade Sneak Peek, Festival Kickoff, Sponsor and Volunteer Thank You parties, Children’s Mini-Parade, Parade VIP Breakfast, Festival VIP event, and more.
“I am honored to join the Houston Festival Foundation, Inc. and work with this exceptional team,” Pettie said. “This organization has been a leader in Houston arts, culture and community programs for decades, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and contributing to the future direction and growth.”
