BIO

René was born in Santa Fe, Argentina. Throughout a decade of classical music studies he performed piano recitals of European and Argentine composers. At age 16, he joined an octet dedicated to Tango: the traditional music of Buenos Aires. René moved to La Plata in pursuit of an engineering degree, yet devoting his musical talent to the new tango styles championed by Horacio Salgán and Astor Piazzolla. His career as an engineer took him to USA, Africa, Middle East, Europe, and China - where he charmed countless audiences with the rhythm and cadenza of tango. He finally settled with his family in Houston. In 1999 he presented his creation "Anthology of Tango” at the University of St. Thomas. The success of the event resulted, to these days, in acclaimed engagements in Houston, New Orleans, Corpus Christy, San Antonio and Austin. His well known “Tango Time” events, with the participation of fellow musicians, a singer, and tango dancers, continue to support a “Young Musician’s Scholarships Program” (now in its fifth year since inception). René has recorded three CD’s of solo piano tango themes, and a fourth one with tango singer Andrea Berri.
